‘Expendables 2′ Accident Kills Stuntman

Lions Gate
Every time a particularly amazing action scene happens in a movie, we always find ourselves thinking, "Good heavens, how was someone not hurt filming that?" It happens more than you think; the most famous is probably the tragic death of actor Vic Morrow and two children on the set of "Twilight Zone: The Movie," but there are countless examples throughout movie history. We've now had another one.

While filming a scene on Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables 2," a stuntman was killed during an explosion late last night. Stallone and director Simon West weren't present for the accident; it happened under the watch of the second unit director. The explosion had been planned butapparently went off at the wrong time, according to THR:
Expendables 2, the sequel to Sylvester Stallone's surprise 2010 hit, was shooting at the Ognyanovo water reservoir in Southwestern Bulgaria when the accident occurred Thursday. Two stuntmen were in a rubber boat in the water when, around 7 pm local time, a planned bomb explosion went wrong. One of the stuntmen was killed on the spot. The other was taken to hospital in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, where he remains in serious condition.
The names of the stuntmen have not been released. The film is scheduled to arrive in multiplexes next August.
